The Parker Family Returns in A Christmas Story ChristmasThe movie A Christmas Story came out in 1983. There have been six sequels, and a seventh is on its way. You know that a popular movie series will eventually include a Christmas story, even one that began as a Christmas story -literally. This one is no different, and is entitled A Christmas Story Christmas. The premise is that Ralphie, played again by Peter Billingsley, who is also executive producer and co-writer, inherits his family home after his father passes. He takes his family there and tries to reproduce the magic of his childhood Christmases. His memory is obviously glossing over all the chaos and shenanigans of the first movie. It is set 30 years after the first film, although the original actors are close to 40 years older.A Christmas Story Christmas will debut on HBO Max on November 17. -via Digg #AChristmasStory #AChristmasStoryChristmas #trailer
Some Revelations in the New Trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverWe get a little more information about the new movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in the new trailer released today. It begins with Wakanda mourning the loss of T'Challa, of course, but swiftly moves on to the next challenge- the nation's new enemy. T'Challa's mother, sister, girlfriend, and general have to pull themselves together to defend Wakanda. This will take a superhero, and at the end, we get a glimpse of the new Black Panther. It's a woman, but which of the several major characters it is remains to be seen. Fans are betting on Shuri.Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens November 11 nationwide. -via Geeks Are Sexy #BlackPanther #Black PantherWakandaForever #Marvel #trailer
The Official Trailer for WEIRD: The Al Yankovic StoryA young boy with dreams his parents don't understand. A talent no one can touch. An idea his friends don't appreciate. A strange Svengali who takes him under his wing. Sudden fame that leads to sex, drugs, and depression. All the usual cliché of musical biopics are woven together in WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe as Yankovic. The "totally true" story of the beloved musician's rise to immense stardom in the world of parody songs is, appropriately, a parody. We would have expected nothing less from Weird Al. If this trailer looks familiar, you are remembering the 2010 Funny or Die parody trailer with the same name with Aaron Paul as Yankovic. The problem with that one was that it was not a trailer for a real full-length movie; this one is. The Funny or Die skit was directed by Eric Appel, who co-wrote (with Al Yankovic) and directed the full-length movie. It just took him a while to get around to it. Yeah, Yankovic appears in the movie, but not as himself. WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story will premier at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, and then debut on the Roku Channel on November 4. #WEIRDTheAlYankovicStory #WeirdAlYankovic #trailer #biopic #parody
Wednesday Gets Her Own SeriesIf any of the characters from The Addams Family can carry a TV series on their own, it would be Wednesday. And so she shall. Netflix unveiled the first teaser for it new series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, who earns her stripes as the spookiest young teen on TV. You know Ortega from her roles in the movie Scream and the TV series You. Catherine Zeta-Jones will play her mother Morticia, and Christina Ricci, the original cinematic Wednesday, makes a special appearance. The teaser sets up the premise that Wednesday is such a troublemaker that she is sent off to the boarding school where her parents met. Nevermore Academy is a specialized school that resembles Hogwarts for the homicidally-inclined. The eight-episode limited series is executive-produced by Tim Burton, who directed four of the episodes. We don't have a premiere date for Wednesday, but it will be available in the fall of 2022. #TV #Wednesday #The Addams Family #Netflix #trailer
Watch the Teaser Trailer for Guillermo del Toro's PinocchioWe got a short glimpse of Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio a couple of months ago, but never got to see the puppet in the teaser. Now we have a full trailer of the third remake of Pinocchio in 2022. Guillermo del Toro's version was touted to be grittier and more in line with the original story by Carlo Collodi from 1893. It is animated by stop-motion with puppets by the Jim Henson Company, and features a star-studded cast of voices. From the looks of this trailer, it's shaping up to be the best of the three Pinocchio films. A First Look at Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverMovie trailers are coming fast and thick at San Diego Comic Con, going on through this weekend. Today it was the venue for unveiling the first teaser trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It. Is. Epic. We start with landscapes and portraits of regal mourning for King T'Challa. Queen Ramonda is stretched to her limit. A baby is born. A war is on. Someone wears the Black Panther suit. And every frame looks like a work of art. Director Ryan Coogler credited the late Chadwick Boseman for the love and effort the cast and crew put into this sequel. “I promise you, I feel his hand on me right now,” he said. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the final movie of the MCU's Phase Four, will hit theaters November 11. #BlackPanther #BlackPantherWakandaForever #Wakanda #trailer
The First Trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among ThievesIt's been said that Dungeons & Dragons fans only get up from the table to go watch other people play D&D on Twitch. Well, soon we might get them to the theater. Yeah, there was a trilogy of D&D movies a few years back, but they were so bad that the third one never made it to theaters. But now a new film is taking on the tabletop role-playing game, serving as a reboot to the franchise. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine, Regé-Jean Page, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, and Hugh Grant. Besides a star-studded cast, you'll see an owlbear, a dragon, a gelatinous cube, a mimic, and a displacer beast, among other D&D touchstones for those in the know. This fantasy adventure has lots of action, lush special effects, and quite a bit of humor. The trailer was released today at San Diego Comic Con. Reaction among gamers around the internet is cautious, however. It's hard to tell the quality of a story from a two-minute trailer, and they've been burned before. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be in theaters in March of 2023. -via Metafilter#DungeonsandDragons #DungeonsandDragonsHonorAmongThieves #trailer
The First Trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of PowerThe Lord of the Rings television prequel series The Rings of Power is coming to Amazon Prime. We get a real first look at the teaser trailer released today. Despite the story being set during the Second Age of Middle-Earth, thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, we see some familiar characters, because certain species live very long lives (namely elves). Galadriel and Elrond look magically like the older versions we know. We will nevertheless have an awful lot of new characters to learn about. The production values are glorious, which was necessary if we want to relate this at all to the movies. The series will likely be the most expensive television show in history, with Prime Video reportedly spending roughly $465 million on the eight episode first season. Prime Video also reportedly made a commitment to produce five seasons of the series as part of its deal with the Tolkien estate.Let's just hope the story, which is gleaned from Tolkien's work, holds up to our expectations. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on Amazon Prime on September 2. #TheRingsofPower #LOTR #trailer
LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation TrailerIf you like your Star Wars with a bit of humor, get ready for the new LEGO Star Wars special, streaming August 5th on Disney+. In a bizarre turn of events, Finn, Rose, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Vader, Palpatine, and other Star Wars characters all end up at the same beach resort for fun in the sun.“LEGO® Star Wars Summer Vacation,” which is set shortly after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” features the voices of “Weird Al” Yankovic, Yvette Nicole Brown, Kelly Marie Tran, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and returning cast members from previous “LEGO Star Wars” specials, and includes “Weird Al’s” new original song, Scarif Beach Party. No, it doesn't make any sense. Half the characters are dead at the end of The Rise of Skywalker, but only some of them are ghosts in this special. But since when did Star Wars make sense, anyway? We'll take any excuse to hear new music from Weird Al! Gotham Knights is Like Batman: The Next GenerationGotham Knights is an upcoming TV series from the CW that mixes Batman with what the CW does- make it all about teenagers. It has no relation with the video game of the same name. In the trailer for the series, we get the entire story of the first episode or two. Or maybe even the first season. Batman has been killed, and it comes as a shock to Bruce Wayne's son that his father was Gotham City's superhero. Suspects are rounded up, who all happen to be the children of Batman's traditional foes, all teenagers, and all seemingly railroaded into the charges. The reaction around the internet is that this is just awful. Some of the backlash is because the series Batwoman was cancelled. Others called it a mashup of Riverdale and The O.C. and numerous other angsty teen-centered CW shows with a sheen of superhero action on top. Gotham Knights will premiere in 2023.#GothamKnights #trailer #Batman
Thor Gets Naked in New Love and Thunder TrailerThe new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has dropped, and it give us plenty of details we didn't get in the teaser a couple of months ago. We get to witness the reunion of Thor and Jane Foster, now a superhero herself, and it's really sweet, in the vein of "tell me you still love me without telling me you still love me." We also are introduced to the movie's villain, Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. The trailer has some snarky comedy, as director Taika Waititi narrates Thor going from "dad bod to god bod." But then there's nudity. Zeus wants a better look at Thor, and "flicked" his clothing off. If you insist on watching that sequence a few times, you'll notice that Thor has a Loki tattoo on his back. The trailer has pixelated Thor's pelvis, but will the film? Since Marvel is famous for using clips in the trailer that never appear in the movie, your guess is as good as mine as to whether it will even be in the movie. It hasn't gotten a rating yet, so maybe they haven't even decided. Thor: Love and Thunder will be in theaters July 8.#trailer #Thor #ThorLoveandThunder
The First Trailer for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part OneIt seems we've been hearing about this movie for years, and we finally get a look in the first trailer. Tom Cruise returns for the seventh Mission: Impossible film, which people forget was based on a 1960s TV series. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One was announced in 2019, then downplayed, then reorganized, then filmed in bits and pieces due to the pandemic. The production has been plagued by legal disputes, covid outbreaks, and on-set accidents. Cruise says not a word in the trailer, but we get some action: a car chase, a horse chase, a motorcycle chase, a train chase, and some explosions on top of all that. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One will be in theaters on July 14, 2023. Yes, over a year from now. This is the fifth announced release date. Part Two is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2024, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it being on schedule. -via Geeks Are Sexy#trailer #MissionImpossible #MissionImpossibleDeadReckoningPartOne #TomCruise
The First Trailer for Avatar: The Way of WaterIt's been 13 years since Avatar became the highest-grossing film ever at the time, and now we're finally getting a glimpse at the sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. Will the wait be worth it? I dunno, but James Cameron is about the only person on earth who can spend a decade or more on a project and get away with it. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña return as Pandorans Jake Sully and Neytiri (who appear to now have a child), and Sigorney Weaver is in it, too, as a different character (if you recall, her character Dr. Grace Augustine died at the end of Avatar). The movie takes place largely underwater, as you might have guessed from the title. Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled to open on December 16, if there are no more delays. -via Gizmodo#trailer #Avatar #Avatarthewayofwater
House of the Dragon has a TrailerAfter the success of Game of Thrones, which made a billion dollars, HBO is stepping back 300 years for a prequel series in the same fantasy universe called House of the Dragon. The series' first trailer is out today. Based on George R.R. Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon follows the ancient Targaryen ruling family, who are known for their ruthlessness and penchant for incest. (As an aside, Martin learned nothing from the Hapsburgs, or we'd never get characters as gorgeous as Daenerys Targaryen or Jon Snow.) The series will star Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Matt Smith, plus we assume a few dozen other actors in important roles if the show is good enough for more than one season. House of the Dragon will premiere August 21. -via Geeks Are Sexy#trailer #HouseoftheDragon
Scenes in the Trailer that Weren't in the MovieYou see a movie trailer, and it gets you excited for the full film. Then a month or maybe six months later, you get to see the movie. If you're impressed, you may even see it more than once. But even people who watch a movie multiple times hardly ever go back to see the trailer again. And by "hardly ever," I mean normal people. Super dedicated fans and entertainment journalists will, and sometimes they uncover the phenomena of scenes that grabbed us in the trailer but were never seen in the finished film. How does that happen?
Jurassic World Dominion TrailerThe Jurassic Park movie franchise began thirty years ago to ask the question, "Can dinosaurs and humans coexist?" That question has been answered six times already, but the people in that film universe do not listen. First we had the Jurassic Park trilogy, and then it started all over again in the Jurassic World trilogy. Now comes a seventh film, Jurassic World Dominion, which once again seeks to warn us about bringing back monstrous extinct predators, lest Universal Pictures make too much money. This movie marries the first and second trilogy by focusing on dinosaur whisperer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), while bringing back the wise ones, Alan Grant (Sam Neil), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) from the first trilogy.
The Trailer for Lightyear: Buzz Lightyear's Origin Story The Buzz Lightyear we know from the PixarToy Story movies is a toy. But that toy was merchandise based on the movie character Buzz Lightyear, a heroic Space Ranger, at least in the Toy Story universe. We only knew the toy, but now we get to see the movie that Andy loved and that spawned the heroic toy. The trailer for the Pixar movie Lightyear was released today.
The Bat and the Cat: The Latest Trailer for The BatmanIn a new trailer for The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, we get a glimpse at some new yet familiar characters. The Riddler is played by Paul Dano, and will surely be more menacing than the comic book version. What the trailer is all about is Selina Kyle/Catwoman, played by Zoë Kravitz.
Fear of the DeerImagine the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as an action film or a horror movie. Despite his red nose, Rudolph is a tough guy, a serious badass, ready to seek revenge on the reindeer who never let him in on the action of the poker games at the local bar called the Moose Hoose. Expect serious carnage, albeit animated.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent TrailerThe most Nicolas Cage movie ever is one starring Nicolas Cage as Nicolas Cage. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is just that, although it's been called "the Nic Cage movie" ever since it was announced. Cage plays himself, rather a fictionalized version of himself as a movie star who needs some quick cash. So he takes a private gig that is beneath his reputation, and finds himself on an adventure that requires him to channel many of the characters he's played in his long career. The trailer contains NSFW language.
Disney's Holiday Film for 2021: EncantoDisney's new movie Encanto is set in the mountains of Colombia, featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It's the story of a family who has been blessed with a magical house and superpowers. Each of the family's siblings has a "special gift," all different so they are useful to the group, except Mirabel. Mirabel suffers from her sense of ordinariness, so you can guess that the plot revolves around her. Mirabel must be the one to save the day when it all starts to fall apart.
