Batman Day will See Three Caped Crusader Movies Return to Theaters
Batman Day is September 17. That's the date that the Batman first appeared in a comic book, Detective Comics #27, in 1939. For the special occasion, Cinemark theaters are bringing back three classic Batman films to be seen on the big screen in all their glory. Those will be Tim Burton's 1989 Batman, its sequel Batman Returns from 1992, and the animated Batman: Mask of the Phantasm from 1993. If you do't have a Cinemark theater near you, they will all be streaming on HBO Max the same day. Comic book stores will be getting into the spirit of the holiday, too. DC is releasing two special edition comic books that will be given away free at participating shops on September 17. They are titled Batman: Hush #1 Batman Day Special, and for kids, Batman's Mystery Casebook Batman Day Special Edition. Theme Music from Every Batman Movie
Krishna Shenoi rescored one chase scene from The Batman with the 15 seconds of the various soundtracks of each Batman feature film that came before. If you don't recognize the music snippets outside of their movie context, here's a handy guide.0:00 Batman 1989 (Danny Elfman)0:15 Mask of the Phantasm (Shirley Walker)0:30 Batman Forever (Elliot Goldenthal)0:45 Batman Begins/Dark Knight Trilogy (James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer)1:00 Batman V Superman (Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL)1:15 Lego Batman (Lorne Balfe)1:30 Zack Snyder's Justice League (Tom Holkenborg)1:45 Batman 1966 (Neal Hefti)Each theme has its own flavor, and you don't really have to decide which one is your favorite, although a lot of people did after this video was posted at Twitter. There's nothing wrong with liking all of them, considering the movies were very different and called for a particular type of sound. If that's your criteria, then the themes really fit what each film was going for. Or maybe the theme gave each film the flavor you remember! Because that's the way movie scores work. -via Digg #Batman #filmscore #theme #thememusic
George Clooney's Batsuit Up for Auction
While many critics consider the 1997 film Batman and Robin to be the worst of the Batman films, it will always be notable for the costume that George Clooney wore as the Caped Crusader. The suit actually had nipples. No one is all that sure why, but it's the only thing that people remember and continue to discuss about the movie. And that suit can now be yours. It's part of an auction of Hollywood props, costumes, and memorabilia from Heritage Auctions to be held July 23-24. The listing for the Batsuit has a description that may explain why the opening bid is $40,000.George Clooney "Batman" Screen Worn Costume Display from Batman & Robin (Warner Bros., 1997). Gotham Knights is Like Batman: The Next Generation
Gotham Knights is an upcoming TV series from the CW that mixes Batman with what the CW does- make it all about teenagers. It has no relation with the video game of the same name. In the trailer for the series, we get the entire story of the first episode or two. Or maybe even the first season. Batman has been killed, and it comes as a shock to Bruce Wayne's son that his father was Gotham City's superhero. Suspects are rounded up, who all happen to be the children of Batman's traditional foes, all teenagers, and all seemingly railroaded into the charges. The reaction around the internet is that this is just awful. Some of the backlash is because the series Batwoman was cancelled. Others called it a mashup of Riverdale and The O.C. and numerous other angsty teen-centered CW shows with a sheen of superhero action on top. Gotham Knights will premiere in 2023.#GothamKnights #trailer #Batman
An Honest Trailer for The Batman
According to this Honest Trailer, the new film The Batman is specially produced for the audience of 2022. Batman is a Gen Z emo goth who battles an influencer. Yeah, Screen Junkies finds some things here and there to poke fun at, but you can tell they really liked this movie overall. You'll find the Honest Theme Song they mentioned at Neatorama.#HonestTrailer #Batman #TheBatman
A Ranking of the Actors Who've Played Batman in Film
Batman is a comic book superhero, but he's also a movie star with a new film coming out every few years since the '80s. The actors change, as they age and grow tired of wearing a full-body costume, while the character never does. Some actors have played the part in multiple movies, while others came and went quickly. The latest is Robert Pattinson, who stars in The Batman, which is now available on home video and has announced a sequel. Pattinson takes his place in a ranking of nine Batman actors in a list at GQ. Check it out and see if you agree with the rankings. For some reason, Lewis Wilson, who played Batman in the 1943 serial, was not included, even though it is available at YouTube. Watch it and you'll understand why. #Batman #Batmanactors

Behind-the-Scenes of 6 Batmobile Stunts
It's always a treat to see the Batmobile, one of Batman's well-recognized gadgets, come to life on screen. And if you've ever wondered why the Batmobile looks so realistic in its scenes, that's because the Batmobile is real. The Batman franchise is very committed to practical in-camera effects with little CGI. They are so committed to this philosophy that they always make a fully-functional model of the vehicle. And if there are shots deemed impossible or costly, filmmakers opt for a miniature or a stand-in car for the Batmobile. With these, the makers of the various Batman films sell the action properly through the hair-raising sequences.(Image Credit: Insider/ YouTube)#Batman #Batmobile #PracticalEffects #VisualEffects #CGI
A Deleted Scene from The Batman Reveals The Joker
Yeah, The Joker was supposed to be in the new film The Batman, but his contribution was cut out of the final edit. We still get to see him, thanks to Warner Bros. posting this deleted scene. It features Batman (Robert Pattinson) visiting Arkham Asylum to consult with The Joker on the enigmatic Riddler, in a scene that will remind you of Hannibal Lecter. Barry Keoghan plays The Joker. He first appears blurry and hard to hear, but becomes clearer and more terrifying as the scene goes on. Be warned that this Joker is heavily scarred and damaged. Keoghan's portrayal of The Joker isn't meant to set him up as a character in a future story, at least according to director Matt Reeves. But he'd be good in the role. -via Geeks Are Sexy #Batman #Joker #deletedscene #TheBatman
Playing a Batman Villain Can Be Psychologically Damaging
The new movie The Batman opens this weekend, and only time will tell whether Robert Pattinson can fill the shoes of the Dark Knight. In this one, Batman battles Paul Dano as the Riddler. Catwoman is in the mix, although she's not exactly portrayed as a classic villain. There is nothing inherently bad about playing a villain in Gotham City. However, as the movies became darker and more serious, they became less like comic book characters and more malevolent. In the 1960s, the Joker, the Riddler, and the Penguin were played for laughs. It was a little less so in the movie series that began with Jack Nicholson playing the Joker, but still played for laughs. The real break was when Heath Ledger took on the role of the Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight. Movie audiences were hesitant to accept that pretty boy Ledger could pull it off, but his Joker was so psychotically evil and so convincing that it set a whole new standard for the villains to come. Afterward, every actor put his heart and soul into playing the villain in subsequent Batman films, and paid for it, particularly those playing the Joker. Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Tommy Lee Jones, and Paul Dano all suffered psychological trauma while filming their roles. Mel magazine explains each, and also dips back in time for a story about Danny DeVito's traumatic experience playing the Penguin.#Batman #Joker #Riddler #Batmanvillain #villain
Who Cares About Plot Holes?
There are two types of people who watch movies: the kind who sink into a film and enjoy it for what it is, and the kind who pick apart everything thats wrong with the movie, whether it's a wrong military patch or the inconsistencies with another movie, but most especially the plot holes. Some people are the first type in the theater, but later on start to think about what was wrong with it. However, if a movie is good enough to draw you into its world, do the plot holes even matter? The theory from Don Kaye at Den of Geek is that a movie can be so artful, so compelling, and so fun to watch, that even the second type of movie goer will forgive plot holes and watch the film again. The ultimate example of this idea is The Dark Knight from 2008. The Christopher Nolan film was the highest-grossing movie of that year, received major critical accolades, and is still ranked at the top of all 14 Batman films. Yet even the most avid fans of The Dark Knight admit that there are plenty of plot devices that make no sense at all in the real world. Den of Geek goes over those plot holes, and comes to the conclusion that they don't matter because the film is too enjoyable to let massive gaps in logic affect it. So if you are ever hired to produce or direct a script that makes no sense, just make it a really good movie and maybe no one will care.#Batman #TheDarkKnight #plothole
The World's #1 Smartest Multi-billionaire Superhero Orphan
Australian artist knivesxonly painted an ad on the wall at Newfarm Cinemas in Brisbaine, Australia. It's clever and references a comparison that's been going on for years, but you can imagine that neither DC nor the producers of The Batman would appreciate it much. However, it has drawn attention to the theater, and that was the purpose. While the post at reddit garnered thousand of upvotes, commenters were quick to 1. debate the definition of "orphan," since Tony Stark was an adult when his parents died, 2. castigate knivesxonly for his punctuation, and 3. parse what "second place runner up" means. This is the cost of going viral- no matter how much people like something you created, there will be plenty of them ready to pick it apart.#Batman #TheBatman #TonyStark
Let's Get a Good Look at The Batman
When DC Films announced that Robert Pattinson would play Batman in the new film The Batman, we all said, "What? That skinny pale kid from the Twilight movies?" But then we remembered what was said about casting comedian Michael Keaton in the role more than 30 years ago. This could work, maybe. And today the main trailer has dropped.
