Even superheroes need a little time to unwind and relax around the house, in the daily life of Batman as Zurich-based photographer, visual artist and creative director Sebastian Magnani illustrates.
In the photo series, titled “Daily Bat,” Magnani showed the iconic DC superhero enjoying the simple things in life, like smoking a cigar, drinking a cocktail, reading the newspaper, tanning (with his suit on!), drinking a milkshake and even eating some cotton candy. Batman was also spotted in the gym, working out with his suit on and also on the golf course.
In an interview with Yatzer, Magnani noted that the contrast between the melancholy look of Batman next to the vibrant colors of the background was done on purpose. “[Life] consists of contrasts as does my art. There are the bright sides and the dark sides.
Visually, I convey this by juxtaposing the moody, dark character with colorful surroundings, but also through the story of someone famous who just wants to be a normal person sometimes, who wants to visit a café and drink a coffee without getting recognized or photographed.
I think a lot of superstars often feel alone when they can’t have a normal social life. So they feel the need to hide themselves.”
