The Possible Art Trends That Will Change The Industry This Year
The arrival of the new year brings a lot of things to light. For some, it could be a new start, a blank slate, where they can bring forward the goals that they want to accomplish this year. For others, it’s another year where they have to bring their best so they can obtain the most productivity. If we look at it from the industry’s perspective, 2023 is just another year where trends will rise and battle each other until one or a few remain etched on the public’s brains. Companies will do their best to back up or establish the winning trend so they can gain the most profit from it. With all of that being said, it makes sense that some experts would put their two cents in and predict what’s going to be popular this year. Artnet News brought in their trusted art business editor, Tim Schneider to assess his predictions for the art industry last year. Also, it’s time for him to be hit by Apollo’s blessing again, as he tries to predict what will matter the most in museums, the art market, and much more for this new year. Brand Logos Turned Into Medieval Illustrations
Have you ever wondered how modern brands of today would market their wares and services to people in medieval times?Well, we think that part of their strategy would be making sure that travelers and potential customers will be able to distinguish their stores in the middle of similarly shaped and designed structures. After all, we really shouldn’t expect the signature designs, such as the big “M” logo in front of a McDonald’s during this older era. Artist Ilya Stallone shows the logo of what today’s companies, such as McDonald's, Twitter, and Amazon would look like during the medieval period. He reimagines these well-known symbols that can easily be placed in the Middle Ages manuscripts. Additionally, he also adapted the aesthetics of that period, which was to lean into a more macabre sense of humor. From 1959 until his death three years later, performance artist Yves Klein sold non-existent spaces for gold. The piece from 1959, Zone de sensibilite picturale immaterielle (Zone of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility), had the French artist inviting guests into a gallery where empty spaces (the Immaterial Zone) were sold in exchange for pure gold.In return, buyers received a receipt that documented the sale. They had the option to burn the receipt, after which the artist would throw half of the gold into the Seine River. A number of the receipts survived - one of which is up for sale with Sotheby’s. It is expected to sell for up to €500,000 ($552,000).The piece is part of the Loic Malle Collection, which will be auctioned in Paris on April 6.Image: Sotheby's#art #YvesKlein #gold #PerformanceArt

VRoid Studio Turns Bad Drawings Into Beautiful Manga and Anime Characters
A new program can now turn bad drawings into good-looking manga or anime characters. This tool, created by talented software engineer T. Takasaka (@t_takasaka), turns sketches into stunning illustrations in real-time. Individual presets are available for users so they can customize the resulting pro-level image that will be generated. They can set the character’s hairstyle, nose, and other facial features and they can see the changes as they happen. The software is currently in the testing phase, and Takasaka shared that he plans to add a parameter slider to the program so users can change the style and shape of a character after drawing it. Nyanko Museum: Famous Works Of Art Reimagined With Cats
Japan is known for producing different kinds of capsule toys, made available in every gashapon (capsule toy dispenser) in the country. Odd additions can be seen every now and then, but there are some good ones. Take for example, the Nyanko Museum (‘Cat Museum’) collection. This capsule toy series takes famous artworks and reimagines them to have cats as their main subjects. The collection contains witty and funny pieces, such as the reimagination of Edward Munch’s The Scream. The only difference in the Nyanko Museum version compared to the original is that the screaming subject is replaced by a screaming cat. In total, the series has five different works of art, and each painting comes with a separate figure of a cat doing the pose in the featured artwork.
