Nyanko Museum: Famous Works Of Art Reimagined With Cats

Japan is known for producing different kinds of capsule toys, made available in every gashapon (capsule toy dispenser) in the country. Odd additions can be seen every now and then, but there are some good ones. Take for example, the Nyanko Museum (‘Cat Museum’) collection. This capsule toy series takes famous artworks and reimagines them to have cats as their main subjects.

The collection contains witty and funny pieces, such as the reimagination of Edward Munch’s The Scream. The only difference in the Nyanko Museum version compared to the original is that the screaming subject is replaced by a screaming cat. In total, the series has five different works of art, and each painting comes with a separate figure of a cat doing the pose in the featured artwork.
