The Most Memorable Animals in The Walking Dead Universe
Tales of the Walking Dead, a new anthology show set in the Walking Dead universe, premiered on AMC Monday night. The six episodes already filmed feature different characters in a self-contained story each week. The first show of the series had Terry Crews and Olivia Munn traveling and meeting an adorable little lamb they named Skipper. This prompted Ron Hogan at Den of Geek to look back at the animals featured in The Walking Dead and its (now three) spinoff series. Which is most memorable to you? Did you cry over Sheba the tiger? Are you always looking for Daryl's dog Dog? Do you even recall the horse called Buttons? Personally, I will always remember that deer that enchanted young Carl in season two, even though it was only on screen for a moment. Enjoy a rundown of the critters that have appeared in the zombie apocalypse, even though most didn't last long, at Den of Geek.#TheWalkingDead #animals
Another Walking Dead Spinoff Gives Us Spoilers for the Current Show
Over the years, The Walking Dead developed a game of sorts with their willingness to kill off main characters, particularly in the season finale and mid-season finale episodes. As the show aged, this became less and less of a thing, as the production's announcement for spinoffs, movies, and other new projects spoiled the odds ahead of time. For example, since we got the news that a new series will revolve around Daryl and Carol, the only survivors from the first season of TWD, we can breath easier each time they are in danger. AMC announced another upcoming series today in the universe of The Walking Dead. If you want to avoid spoilers for the current season, you'll want to stop reading now, because the old characters in the new series obviously will not be killed off on The Walking Dead. The zombie apocalypse universe already has The Walking Dead, which is in its eleventh and final season now, plus Fear the Walking Dead, the limited series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, an upcoming anthology series called Tales of the Walking Dead, the untitled Daryl and Carol series, the Rick Grimes movies, and now we can look forward to a series called Isle of the Dead, premiering in 2023. This series will revolve around the characters Maggie and Negan. In Isle of the Dead, Maggie and Negan will find themselves in "a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror."
The Walking Dead: World Beyond Finale Reveals Source of Zombie Outbreak
The final episode of the two-season series The Walking Dead: World Beyond aired Sunday night. The limited series focused on a group of teenagers in the zombie apocalypse where the word "zombie" is unknown. The action is set ten years after the start of the apocalypse. The series is now over, but left us with an intriguing coda consisting of a five-minute post-credit scene that takes us to a different place altogether. The rest of this post contains spoilers in case you have been following the series but haven't seen the final episode yet. You've been warned.SPOILERS BELOWThe scene takes place in what is believed to be France, as the characters are speaking native French. They refer to the beginning of the zombie outbreak and the scientists who weren't there to stop it. Did the virus first arise in France? The scene contains a video communication with Dr. Edward Jenner of the CDC, who died in the first season of The Walking Dead. This doesn't help place the scene in time, because it becomes clear that this is a recorded video, as it keeps playing after the French scientist is no longer listening. The dialogue mentions "variant cohorts," which imply that there are different zombie viruses. The woman is shot through the head (which kills the victim permanently, from what we've seen), and then almost immediately reanimates as a zombie. She moves faster than any zombie we've seen, and appears to move with purpose. Is this a new kind of zombie from a virus variant?Oh yeah, and something I missed because I haven't watched the series is that Jadis was on it. I'll have to look that up to know what's going on.
