Funny or Die and Tango are collaborating to produce a new movie called Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Eric Appel is director and executive producer, and he co-wrote the script with "Weird Al" Yankovic himself. Yankovic told Appel his life story, and Appel didn't believe a word of it, but agreed that it would make a good movie. So how much of the movie is fiction and how much is fact? It doesn't really matter, we know it's going to be funny anyway. But the big question is who will play Yankovic. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the answer.
Daniel Radcliffe is slated to play a younger version of Yankovic. Considering some of the weird roles Radcliffe has taken on since his Harry Potter days, we think he will be perfect as "Weird Al." If you want to know more about the movie, there's a description that was obviously written by Yankovic.
The description for the film says it “holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will be produced exclusively for The Roku Channel. No word yet on when it will premiere. -via reddit
