A Single Page Artwork From 1984 Spider-Man Comic Book Sold for $3.36 Million

A single comic page out of a 1984 Spider-Man comic book has just shattered bidding records at $3.36M. The page depicted the first appearance of Spidey’s black suit. The symbiote suit would eventually lead to the entrance of mega popular villain Venom.

Taken from Marvel Comics’ “Secret Wars No. 8”, the bidding of the infamous page started at $300,000 before swinging past the three million dollar mark. The auction occurred on the first day of Heritage Auctions’ four-day comic event in Dallas.

This achievement broke the previous single-page auction record set by an artwork from the 1974 issue of “The Incredible Hulk” comic which first teased the arrival of Wolverine. At the time, it was sold for $657,250.
