AI Recreates James Earl Jones' Darth Vader Voice so the Actor Can RetireEven if Darth Vader’s actor has to retire from his work, the world can still hear his voice in upcoming projects for the Star Wars franchise!Lucasfilm hired Ukrainian startup company Reespeecher to recreate the iconic voice behind the memorable antagonist in the fictional series. This was done after the original voice actor, James Earl Jones stepped back from reprising his role. The media reported that after giving life to Darth Vader for 40 years, Jones has signed off his archived voice recordings to Lucasfilm. These were then utilized by Reespeecher to create new dialogues with artificial intelligence. You can actually find the new synthesized voice lines of the character that was made by Reespeecher in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jones also made sure that the startup got his character right as he guided the team during the creation of the new Darth Vader dialogues. This is not Reespeecher’s first rodeo with the Star Wars franchise, as they have recreated the voice of young Luke Skywalker for another Disney+ series, The Book of Bobba Fett. Image credit: Wikimedia Commons #starwars #AI #voiceacting #JamesEarlJones #voiceactor #Lucasfilm #Reespeecher
Watch Mark Hamill and Lena Headey Recording Masters of the UniverseIf Mark Hamill hadn't played that one character, he'd be famous as a talented and hard-working voiceover artist. He began doing cartoon voiceovers before Star Wars, and has played a string of comic book supervillains for almost 40 years, most notably the Joker in the animated Batman series and its many spinoffs. Watch Hamill channel Skeletor as he records his voice for Masters of the Universe: Revelation - Part 2. Lena Headey, who you know as Cercei from Game of Thrones, plays his villainous compatriot Evil-Lyn. Kevin Smith supervises.
