Brewery Creates a Beer Series Celebrating Portland UnipiperFor years, Brian Kidd AKA the Unipiper has been making a name for himself by keeping Portland weird.Now, Gigantic Brewing is partnering with Weird Portland United to launch a beer series celebrating the famous Unipiper. Beginning April 1, the Unipiper Hazy IPA will be available at the Gigantic Taproom.It was made with hops grown in the Unipiper’s own backyard.According to Gigantic Brewing Brewmaster, Ben Love, the collaboration is a celebration of Portland: being weird. Portland Pickles Relish the Good News That Their Mascot Dillon T. Pickle has Been FoundPortland Pickles fans can breathe a sigh of relief, for Dillon T. Pickles is at last coming home!The beloved mascot went missing when it was misplaced during a recent flight. The airline did return the mascot to the baseball team’s office; the package was dropped off at their premises after business hours. This was how the mascot got snatched out from their front porch.Search for Dillon was immediately underway. Sports team mascots all over the country also joined up in posting to get the word out. Finally, the Pickles announced on Thursday that Dillon had been found on a TriMet bus and dropped off at a Voodoo Doughnut in Southeast Portland. Flanders Crossing Bridge In Portland Renamed To “Ned Flanders Crossing” In Honor of The Character in The SimpsonsNed Flanders is a character on The Simpsons known for his piousness and friendliness in the fictional town of Springfield. He is the epitome of kindness, compassion, and positivity in the show, always being friendly and helpful towards others.In honor of this colorful character, the city of Portland has decided to rename the Flanders Crossing bridge into “Ned Flanders Crossing”. The new name was unveiled by Sean VanGordon, the mayor of real-life Springfield, Travel Portland CEO Jeff Miller, and Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty.“The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening grew up in Portland and has named several characters from the long-running animated series after Portland streets.Flanders Street is named for George Flanders, an early city resident and shipping tycoon who arrived in what would become Portland in 1849.The 24-foot-wide and 200-foot-long pedestrian and bicycle bridge connects Northwest Flanders Street at 15th and 16th avenues, spanning Interstate 405.
