The legacy of late designer Virgil Abloh remains strong as ever. Months after his passing, his Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration piece sells at around $100,000 a pair, with the US size 5 pair even going for $352,800 when it was auctioned off at Sotheby’s. The price tag makes it the most expensive pair sold, estimated to be 23.5 times higher than previous estimate for each release and twice as expensive as the next highest priced pair at $176,400 for size US 5.5.
There were in total 200 pairs of the special edition, all retailed via Sotheby’s. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to The Virgil Abloh “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund. The foundation was established by the late artist in order to support the education of promising students of Black, African American, or African descent.
