YouTube maker Koss Workshop shows us the step-by-step process of building Wolverine claws with basic tools, as well as cutting, milling and grinding equipment.
First, Koss traced the shape of the wolverine claws on a piece of scrap plywood and cut them with a bandsaw. This allowed him to check the fit before he proceeded to cut the pieces out of 1066 high carbon alloy steel, then grind and sand them to make them into blades. Koss then subjected the pieces to heat treatment to improve their hardness.
The handle was cut out of a single block of duralumin, a strong yet lightweight alloy of aluminum and the pieces were put together with nuts and bolts.
As with his other pieces, Koss sold the one-of-a-kind steel Wolverine claws at his Etsy store.
