A model of Red Leader’s X-Wing Fighter used in A New Hope during the final battle sequence has sold for $2.4 million at Prop Store Auction. The price tag shattered previous estimation that the model would auction in the ballpark of $500,000 to $1,000,000.Birthed from the mind of George Lucas himself, the prop was custom-made from scratch just for the movie. Many were created for the extensive shooting but most were destroyed by the pyrotechnics used during the iconic battle scene.
