Model of X-Wing Fighter Used in the Star Wars Movie Sold for $2.4 Million
For avid Star Wars fans, flying in X-Wing is probably one of the greatest experiences one can ever dream of. The next best thing is, of course, owning one. That is what one unidentified collector has accomplished. A model of Red Leader’s X-Wing Fighter used in A New Hope during the final battle sequence has sold for $2.4 million at Prop Store Auction. The price tag shattered previous estimation that the model would auction in the ballpark of $500,000 to $1,000,000.Birthed from the mind of George Lucas himself, the prop was custom-made from scratch just for the movie. Many were created for the extensive shooting but most were destroyed by the pyrotechnics used during the iconic battle scene. This particular miniature in question is the “only intact, fully-finished” piece from production that is known to still exist.Images: Prop Store Auction#StarWars #XWing #movieprop
Danger Zone: A Video Tribute to X-Wing Pilots
"Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins always invokes images of Navy fighter pilots in either training exercises or dogfights, since the song was prominently featured in the film Top Gun. But X-wing pilots are pretty much the same, except they reach higher altitudes in a galaxy far, far away.
