Tomato Soup Thrown on Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers"
Climate activists from the group Just Stop Oil shocked museum patrons and the world on Friday, October 14, 2022. The two activists opened a couple of cans of Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup and proceeded to chuck the contents onto a painting at London’s National Gallery. Once the contents of the cans were empty, the two activists next glued themselves to the wall. The Just Stop Oil activists didn’t just throw the soup on any old painting. They splattered the soup onto Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers.” The “Sunflowers” painting is actually one of 6 of the surviving sunflower paintings created by the artist. The image was created by Van Gogh during the late 1880’s. Thankfully, the painting was not damaged during the stunt. The painting itself is actually behind a piece of glass. According to news reports, however, the frame was slightly damaged. (Image Credit: ABC News)#Sunflowers
