Who Cares About Plot Holes?
There are two types of people who watch movies: the kind who sink into a film and enjoy it for what it is, and the kind who pick apart everything thats wrong with the movie, whether it's a wrong military patch or the inconsistencies with another movie, but most especially the plot holes. Some people are the first type in the theater, but later on start to think about what was wrong with it. However, if a movie is good enough to draw you into its world, do the plot holes even matter? The theory from Don Kaye at Den of Geek is that a movie can be so artful, so compelling, and so fun to watch, that even the second type of movie goer will forgive plot holes and watch the film again. The ultimate example of this idea is The Dark Knight from 2008. The Christopher Nolan film was the highest-grossing movie of that year, received major critical accolades, and is still ranked at the top of all 14 Batman films. Yet even the most avid fans of The Dark Knight admit that there are plenty of plot devices that make no sense at all in the real world. Den of Geek goes over those plot holes, and comes to the conclusion that they don't matter because the film is too enjoyable to let massive gaps in logic affect it. So if you are ever hired to produce or direct a script that makes no sense, just make it a really good movie and maybe no one will care.#Batman #TheDarkKnight #plothole
