The Top 25 Weird Al Songs You Should Know
Weird Al Yankovic fans and newcomers alike are enjoying the mostly fictional biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story starring Daniel Radcliffe streaming on Roku. Last night he was seen playing a quick medley of some of his more familiar songs with The Roots on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Weird Al has produced about three dozen albums over the last 40 years, including "Like a Surgeon," "I Lost on Jeopardy," and my favorite, an essential love song with the lyricsI'd rather spend eternity eating shards of broken glassThan spend one more minute with you. With a discography like his, it stands to reason that even the oldest and most avid fans haven't heard all the Weird Al songs, and newcomers might have never gotten the chance to hear his earlier parodies. But if you have, you'll want to check them out again. The A.V. Club has prepared a slideshow of "Weird Al" Yankovic's 25 most essential songs, each with a song to listen to and the history behind it. Not all of them are strictly parodies, but all are quite funny.#WeirdAlYankovic #parodysong
Harry Potter Meets Taylor Swift: I Knew You Were Muggle
Jeffrey Dubow, of the Brooke and Jeffrey radio show on the IHeartRadio network, performed a parody of Taylor Swift's song "I Knew You Were Trouble." The lyrics are a bunch of Hogwarts, so to speak. The song tells a story about Harry Potter falling for a muggle (a mere non-wizard), which is apparently scandalous in the Harry Potter universe. Each verse shoehorns in dozens of Harry Potter references, but even if you're not a fan, you'll get a few giggles out of it. The lyrics are posted at the YouTube page.If you are wondering why Dubow is in costume during a radio show, I imagine it was because of the video camera. -via reddit#HarryPotter #TaylorSwift #songparody #parodysong #muggle
