Photographs of Strangers That Look Just Like Each Other
Photographer Francois Brunelle once heard a mathematician say that there were not more than 200 types of faces possible. His ongoing photography project may be proving that theory. Since 2000, Brunelle has been taking black-and-white pictures of unrelated people who bear uncanny resemblance to each other. The work has brought him all over the world where he’s asked to recreate the same idea over and over again. To date, the project, dubbed I’m Not A Look-Alike!, has amassed 250 images of subjects. Brunelle found his subjects through the web, with people submitting their look-alikes themselves or suggesting someone they know. He intentionally photographed them in black and white to eliminate other variables such as skin tones and simply focus on the facial feature likeness. Most of his subjects came wearing their own clothes, with no special makeup. With this minimalistic approach, he was able to find both similarities and amusing differences between his doppelganger subjects. Now, his fascinating work has even been incorporated into scientific researches on look-alikes, from psychology to DNA studies.Images: Francois Brunelle/IG#photographs #stranger #FrancoisBrunelle #lookalike #doppelganger #twin
