Finley, a 4th Grader from Virginia, is One Talented Business Owner, Baker, and Decorator
Virtual meetings suddenly became the "new normal" when the pandemic kicked in last year. Working from home is already a challenge, but those who worked from home and had kids at home most likely found this scenario more challenging. Parents, after all, have to give some of their time bonding with their kids, and working from home while managing the little ones is no joke.To maintain some balance between her work and her kids, elementary school principal Kelly Sheers created a system that informed her kids when they could interrupt her. This system involved a red cup and a green cup that indicated when she was available for her kids. But during one staff meeting in the spring of last year, Sheers forgot to flip the red cup, and her daughter Finley suddenly asked her whether she (Finley) could bake in the kitchen. Sheers, not expecting to be interrupted, replied that she could do anything she wanted as long as she would not be interrupted again. She also reminded her daughter to try not to burn down the house. Little did Kelly know that the request would unleash the inner baker in the fourth-grader.In the year since that fateful day, Finley's hobby has become a small business with orders of cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, and her baking skills have greatly improved.Read more about this story over at WTOP. For now, here are some of Finley's creations. You can also check her Instagram account for more.(Images: Kelly Sheers)#Hobby #Pastry #Baking
Billie Eilish Teaches Her Instagram Followers How to Make Her Favorite Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and They Are Vegan
Billie Eilish, the 19-year old American singer-songwriter, lets her fans be involved in her life by showing them one of her passions aside from creating music and singing -- baking. On her Instagram stories, she instructed her fans how to make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. She began by reminding them to preheat their ovens at 350 degrees before adding a cup of brown sugar to a mixing bowl. She then added a cup of her so-called "favorite peanut butter in the world" which is Costco's Kirkland Signature organic peanut butter. After mixing the two ingredients for a minute, she instructed her followers to mix in two teaspoons of vanilla extract. To make the cookies fully vegan, Eilish also taught her followers how to make oat flour: blending oats until you get a cup of powdered oats, adding a teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/8 teaspoon of salt. This is then added to the wet ingredients. She added 1/4 cup of almond milk and stirred in some chocolate chips. She then scooped out the dough, placed them on a baking sheet, and squished them with a fork so that they do not spread out. After about 10-12 minutes in the oven, Billie Eilish is proud to show her luscious and vegan-friendly cookies which are best topped with pieces of milk chocolate.Image credit: Jamie McCarthy & Billie Eilish#Celebrity #BillieEilish #Costco #PeanutButter #Cookies #Baking #CookieRecipe
