Artist Used AI to Show How Dead Celebrities Would Look Like if They Were Alive TodayWhat if the car accident that took out Princess Diana did not happen in 1997? What if Heath Ledger did not die from acute intoxication? What if Freddie Mercury was still alive today? What would he look like today? Pondering the question of "What if" about his favorite celebrities, lawyer and photographer Alper Yesiltas used AI to create a photo series titled "As If Nothing Happened." The AI-based project shows the celebrities mentioned above, in Yesiltas's words, "if some great events had not happened to them." Aside from those mentioned, Yesitas also made "What If" photos for Bruce Lee, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, and more. Yesiltas posts these images over at his Instagram account. In a Buzzfeed article about his project, Yesiltas stated that he thinks that AI has the power to create "anything imaginable." Realizing this, Yesiltas thought of what he could do that would make him the happiest. "I wanted to see some of the people I missed again in front of me."A man can dream.(Images: alperyesiltas/ Instagram)#AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Celebrities #Recreation
AI Recreates James Earl Jones' Darth Vader Voice so the Actor Can RetireEven if Darth Vader’s actor has to retire from his work, the world can still hear his voice in upcoming projects for the Star Wars franchise!Lucasfilm hired Ukrainian startup company Reespeecher to recreate the iconic voice behind the memorable antagonist in the fictional series. This was done after the original voice actor, James Earl Jones stepped back from reprising his role. The media reported that after giving life to Darth Vader for 40 years, Jones has signed off his archived voice recordings to Lucasfilm. These were then utilized by Reespeecher to create new dialogues with artificial intelligence. You can actually find the new synthesized voice lines of the character that was made by Reespeecher in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jones also made sure that the startup got his character right as he guided the team during the creation of the new Darth Vader dialogues. This is not Reespeecher’s first rodeo with the Star Wars franchise, as they have recreated the voice of young Luke Skywalker for another Disney+ series, The Book of Bobba Fett. Image credit: Wikimedia Commons #starwars #AI #voiceacting #JamesEarlJones #voiceactor #Lucasfilm #Reespeecher
It's Impossible to Tell that Deep Fake @deeptomcruise is Actually Not The Real Tom CruiseDeeptomcruise is a TikTok account showing what the movie star Tom Cruise does in his life when he's not acting on film. However, very rarely, you'll find that something's slightly off in his TikTok videos, and that is because the person seen on the camera is not really Tom Cruise, but an impersonator and the videos are all synthetic media (better known as deepfakes). Thus the name @deeptomcruise.A Belgian visual effects artist named Chris Ume is the guy responsible for making these deepfake videos. But how does he make the videos believable? His secret is the impersonator who has the same hairstyle and mannerisms as the Hollywood actor. The rest of the job is left to the advanced AI system that will superimpose Tom Cruise's face to the impersonator. And voila! He has a hyperrealistic deepfake video.Ume is aware that the deepfakes are far from perfect, but he does not mind them, as he does not want to fool people. "I just want to show them what's possible," he says to Bill Whitaker in a 60 Minutes interview.Chris Ume is one of the world's leading artificial intelligence artists, and he, along with his brother Kevin and entrepreneur Thomas Graham, founded the synthetic media company Metaphysic.(Image Credit: @deeptomcruise/ TikTok)#SyntheticMedia #Deepfake #AI #TomCruise
