Why Weren't The Avengers at T'Challa's Funeral?

The movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the number one movie in America, raking in $180 million in the US over its opening weekend. That set a record for a movie opening in November. The film also grossed $330 million globally.

It's no spoiler to refer to T'Challa's funeral, as we knew the franchise would not replace actor Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in 2020. It's a magnificent ceremony, befitting a monarch and head of state. You may or may not have noticed that there were no other Marvel superheroes attending. Their absence does not detract from the meaningful ritual, but Marvel fans may wonder: Where are the Avengers?

Den of Geek answers that question from two perspectives. First, there's the problems in bringing in the Avengers from a filmmaker's perspective. It makes sense. Then there's the in-universe explanation, which is bit more complicated, but overall makes sense as well. Then there's the easy answer- it was a private state funeral. That one takes some suspension of disbelief, but it was the first thing I thought of.
