U.S. Bobsled Team Created a Racy Bob-Spread Calendar to Raise Money to Compete in the Olympics

In order to afford the extra costs needed for their Olympic journey, a team of bobsled athletes from the U.S. made and sold a racy calendar spread to gather money and donations for the team. Carlo Valdes and other athletes posed for the Bob-Spread, which was actually a 2019 project by photographer and push athlete Jimmy Reed and other bobsledders. The calendar only came to fruition last summer.

The necessary equipment Olympians need for the event is expensive and extensive. For example, an elite sled the bobsled athletes need costs up to $250,000. Even though they can rent one from USA Bobsled and Skeleton (USABS) for a few thousand dollars, the shipping costs rack up to $50,000 for a two-way trip. The athletes used the calendar to attract donors to their GoFundMe, where they successfully raised $90,000 in just a week!
