This Adidas x The Simpsons Collaboration Featuring Ned Flanders is Inspired by the Show’s Season 3 Episode

Everyone’s favorite god-fearing and unfailingly friendly neighbor from The Simpsons is teaming up with Adidas to release a sneaker collaboration. The Ned Flanders-themed sneaker is set to release in October and is inspired by the show’s season three episode, widely considered one of the show’s best, where Flanders opens up ‘The Leftorium’, a shop dedicated to all the left-handed Springfield residents. The collab, fortunately, includes both the left and right shoe.

In this episode, titled “When Flanders Failed,” a wishbone breaks in favor of Homer who wishes to see the failure of Flanders’ business. The wish comes true and the Flanders are forced to vacate their home and live in their car. Feeling guilty, Homer then urges Springfield’s left-handed residents to patronize The Leftorium, and the rest is history.

The silhouette for the occasion is the McCarten, a humble low-top named after renowned collector Bobby McCarten. It’s decorated in brown and olive suede with pink lining as a nod to Flanders’ outfit of brown loafers, green sweater, and a pink shirt underneath. You won’t find any details culled from The Leftorium on the shoe itself, but the box it comes in features an image of Flanders holding a “Left Handers Rule!” sign in front of his store.

The subtle details tying the sneaker to Ned Flanders make it so that only a few people will get the reference—an “if you know you know” type of thing. This allows it to be quirky while still being fashionable and tasteful. Fans will be able to rock these sneakers on October 3, the episode’s 20th anniversary, for a reasonable price of $120.
