The Walking Dead Countdown to a Rick and Michonne Reunion

Fourteen years after we first met Rick Grimes, and more than five years after we last saw him on The Walking Dead, it's almost time for his return in the new show The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. It is the seventh television series in The Walking Dead franchise. It will also be the return of Michonne, who left the main series and their two children to search for Rick in the tenth season.

Rick disappeared from the scene during a bridge explosion, and although his community searched for months, they never found a trace of his body. What they didn't know, but the audience did, was that he was picked up, injured, by the CRM. The CRM is the military arm of the Civic Republic, a shadowy civilization that we got hints of every few seasons by the sighting of a helicopter. While Rick and crew encountered groups with gradually more organization in their travels, Woodbury, Grady Memorial, Alexandria, and the Commonwealth, none are as large or as powerful as the Civic Republic. It was introduced in the spinoff series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, but if you didn't watch that series, you might want to read up on on the Civic Republic. Rick made several escape attempts that left clues for Michonne to find him.

Jadis, the former leader of the Scavengers, is now an agent of the CRM, and appears several times in this final trailer above. It doesn't appear that any characters beyond Rick, Michonne, and Jadis are coming over from the main series, but you might recognize some characters from The World Beyond. The Ones Who Live is a six-episode series, but the big question is how long will they string us along before Rick and Michonne are reunited? If it doesn't happen until the sixth episode, fans will be outraged. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will premiere on AMC on Sunday, February 25.
