The American Civil War not only split the nation, but also split families. For example, US General George Thomas, named “the Rock of Chickamauga”, was permanently estranged from his Southern family. After the war, he tried to send money to the aid of his impoverished sisters, but they refused and insisted that they had no brother at all.
Such was only one tragedy of the Civil War. In this version depicted above, the fratricidal struggle pitted Mario against Luigi. This strange item was part of an educational quiz card product offered by Nintendo in the late 1990s. You can find an archive here.
