You don't have to wait for autumn, or "spooky season" for horror films. It turns out that scary movies actually do better when they are released in the summer. The summer of 2023 gives us Cobweb, The Blackening, Talk to Me, Disney's Haunted Mansion, Insidious: The Red Door, and The Last Voyage of the Demeter. I'm sure there are more. Besides, there's no reason hold a horror film until spooky season when we can watch it now and then again later for our Halloween film festivities.
In fact, the summer horror movie goes way back. Rosemary's Baby opened in June of 1968. The Omen opened in June of 1976. The original Friday the 13th opened in May back in 1980. There's nothing like spending a hot summer day in a dark theater with air conditioning as you feel a chill going up your back.
