In 1984, Troma Entertainment gave us The Toxic Avenger, a low-budget ultraviolent black comedy that was in line with their many B-movies released for double features, drive-ins, and home video. But the premise was so outrageous that it eventually became a cult classic, and three sequels followed. In 2023, The Toxic Avenger gets a reboot with the same plot as the original, by the same producers, Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, only with a much larger budget. The plot involves a bullied, downtrodden everyman who becomes a superhero when he falls into a vat of toxic waste. This time, the title role is played by Peter Dinklage, along with Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, Sarah Niles, Julia Davis, Julian Kostov, and Elijah Wood. This short teaser doesn't show us much of the Toxic Avenger himself, but I'm sure the first full trailer will. The Toxic Avenger premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 21, but there is no world on when it will be released to theaters or streaming or what. -via Digg ā
