The Disney version of Star Wars has tried and tried to introduce new characters or expand on minor characters, but every new venture tends to step back from the risk of truly new stories by sticking in something familiar to Star Wars fans. In the sequel trilogy, it was the entire plot of The Force Awakens, and Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker, not to mention the characters from the original trilogy. In the TV shows, the same problem is evident. The Warp Zone illustrates it with a skit.
Den of Geek goes into detail about how crossover characters affected The Book of Boba Fett, and how Marvel does it differently. This probably won't be a problem with the upcoming series Obi-Wan Kenobi, since the lead characters in that series are Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, played by Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christiansen. Good luck to any other characters who would like to get a line or two.
