HBO is betting big bucks that viewers will come back to the world in which Game of Thrones was set. The company is working on seven prequel projects, three of them animated, starting with House of the Dragon which debuts in August. And now they are reportedly working on an actual sequel to Game of Thrones which will follow the post-Games life of Jon Snow.
Actor Kit Harrington is set to reprise the role he played for eight seasons on the original show. The new series will follow his life among the Wildings, free folk who live north of the seven kingdoms. Even for fans who were turned off by the final season of Game of Thrones, the premise is intriguing. Those people had more fun than anyone else in the series. The series also opens up the possibility of other characters from the original series to show up- after all, most of the survivors are related to Snow in one way or another. We especially hope for the return of Tormund Giantsbane, played by Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju.
The sequel is still in early development, but having Harrington on board makes it more likely to happen. It will probably be several years before we see Jon Snow again. Until then, we know nothing.
