Hank Williams (senior) left us for the great honkytonk in the sky way back in 1953, but his old school country twang lives forever in our hearts and LP records. One of his last hits before his death was the single “Settin’ the Woods on Fire” that, unlike most of Williams’s famous works, was written by someone else.
In this altered version by There I Ruined It, that author is the hip hop group N.W.A., which is most famous for their gangsta rap hit “Straight Outta Compton.” Let’s perhaps retitle it to “Straight Out of Mount Olive” to reflect Williams’s sleepy home town in Alabama.
