Netflix has dropped its first trailer for Agent Elvis, an adult animated series from Sony Pictures Animation (which contains NSFW language). The premise is that Elvis Presley gets drafted into a super-secret spy agency to lend his talents in protecting America from the forces of evil around the world. But meanwhile, he keeps his day job as a musical superstar. May we assume that the story is set in the 1970s? Maybe, since Elvis died in 1977. But then again, reality is bent in every direction for this series.
Matthew McConaughey is the voice of Elvis, but he doesn't even try to imitate Presley's speech, which is the first thing any Elvis impressionist does. "It's not murder if you do it with your eyes closed." And there's a chimpanzee on the team. But this strange premise has drawn an all-star cast. Besides McConaughey, the voice talent includes Don Cheadle, Kaitlin Olson, Johnny Knoxville, Niecy Nash, Tom Kenny, and Priscilla Presley as herself. Get a rundown on the characters at io9. Agent Elvis will debut on Netflix on March 17.
