Frank de Ruwe, a Dutch street artist based in Amsterdam, likes the Pablo Picasso quote that “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Ruwe has never lost his childhood sense of wonder and whimsy. It shows in his body of work, which most recently includes this novel sculpture.
It’s Ruwe’s contribution to the tenth Amsterdam Light Festival. The Torontobrug, a bridge in that city, now bears this offbeat sculpture of Darth Vader using his lightsaber for a more peaceful purpose than galactic conquest.
