An Honest Trailer for Roadhouse

The new movie Roadhouse will be released March 21st on Amazon Prime video streaming, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, and Conor McGregor. The question looming over the production is, why would anyone want to remake the 1989 movie Roadhouse? The general consensus was that it was a bad movie, full of stereotypes, cheesy dialogue, and fighting. The fighting was unrealistic because there were so few guns involved, as that would hamper the hand-to-hand combat. But Roadhouse made plenty of money and became a cult favorite anyway, because of Patrick Swayze and ...the fighting.

Roadhouse was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, but did not win because Star Trek: The Motion Picture dominated that year. However, Roadhouse did eventually make the Razzies' list of The 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made. Just ahead of the remake, Screen Junkies takes a 35-year look back at the original Roadhouse and all its flaws that enshrine it in the pantheon of bad movies that people actually watch.
