You'll be forgiven if you've forgotten about Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1, especially if you didn't go see it. After years of hype about one stunt, the movie came out in July and was a box office disappointment. Oh, it made money, just not enough to cover its $300 million budget plus marketing costs. Could it be because it's the seventh installment in the movie franchise? Could it be because it was almost three hours long? Could it be because of that "part one" which implied you'd have to come back in 2025 to see the rest of the story? Or maybe it's all of the above. The movie got generally good ratings from those who saw it. They expected a non-stop slew of stunts and got it. Screen Junkies goes through what Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 was about, which is incomprehensible to those who haven't seen the previous films, and lingers on the MacGuffin that is the key to whatever the movie is about.
