The Marvel movie Madame Web opened on Valentine's Day and made quite a splash with scathing reviews from all corners. What it did not make was Marvel money. While the movie, starring Dakota Johnson as the superhero Madame Web, reached expectations in its opening week, the box office take sank every day afterward, and Madame Web barely made back its production budget, barely touching its promotional expenses. The movie became a meme as a metaphor for how bad Marvel films have progressively become, and was compared to Morpheus, which became a joke.
