Netflix has announced a new comedy series based on the story of the last Blockbuster video store. Starring Fresh Off the Boat’s Randall Park, the series will be written and produced by Vanessa Ramos, notable for her work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The series, titled Blockbuster, will be released as a ten-episode series on the streaming platform. According to official reports, the show will be a “single-cam” comedy series set in the video store. “It will explore what it takes – and more specifically who it takes – for a small business to succeed against all odds,” Variety magazine wrote.
Blockbuster store owner Sandi Harding stated that Netflix didn’t contact her about the series. She only learned about the show on social media. Regardless of the lack of contact, Harding shared that she would love it if the cast and crew would come to her store and shoot there.
