Holidays of the Star Wars Universe

We on Earth celebrate Christmas in one way or another over most of the world. There's also the New Year holiday, which varies among cultures, and all kinds of other holidays that are marked by individual nations, culture, or religions. Surely other civilizations outside of Earth have special days to celebrate, too! The events of the Star Wars saga took place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but they also had their holidays. We know about Life Day, because that was the "holiday" that gave us The Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978. At one time, it was only observed on the planet Kashyyyk, but later spread to other parts of the galaxy.

You might not be as familiar with Empire Day, Boonta Eve, or the Aki-Aki Festival of the Ancestors. These are holidays we've already seen in the Star Wars universe, and there may be others uncovered in the future (as production schedules require). Read about these holidays at the Star Wars official site.  -via Boing Boing
